Of Mice and Men
by John Steinbeck
Ranch workers George Milton and Lennie Small move from farm to farm in search of work during the height of the Great Depression. Life is tough for Lennie especially, who has a cognitive disability that makes work inaccessible at the best of times, and adverserial at the worst of times. The two friends settle into one California ranch which feels more like home than anywhere they’ve been before. There, they gain new friends and new outlooks on life… until it’s all taken away from them.
Of Mice and Men is a collaboration with the disabilities communities with the intention to create opportunities for artists who stem from all walks of life. The production ignited dialogue about depiction of disabilities in theatre. Of Mice and Men advocates through through the character of Lennie, played by Elliott Headley.
